Dick Fosfury is a retired U.S. Olympic high jumper and considered one of the most influential athletes in the history of track and field. At the 1968 Olymics, Fosbury not only won a gold medal but also revolutionized the high jump event. He invented the "back-first" technique used by a most high jumpers today.
